The Pain Death Bestows
There was less affection when we last parted, I had a feeling you were broken hearted. It had been a few years since your pain started, I thought in time you’d heal from my devotion as your death grimly drifted in slow motion. Your gentle sore heart was completely guarded. So I tarry with fear to your resting place, under an emerald pine wearing God's grace. If only your warm arms were here to embrace me when I miss you with woe at night alone- My troubled forsaken heart has turned to stone. I whisper hellos and goodbyes just in case. The depth of my sorrow compares not to yours. You wore burn holes on your sleeve to shield the sores- My daughter in tears for years yet still adores her auntie who left without saying goodbye, not knowing how to tell her how you did die. You made a choice to sail to heaven’s soft shores. I tried, you lied- Angel’s wept when you died. I’ve lived eight years of strife- since you, my sister…took your life. I prayed for so long that your anguish would cease as the loss of your smile brings me to my knees- From death I'm deaf...but hear your laugh in the breeze. *sorry this poem is so long, my muse kept spreading* Move Me Poetry Contest Richard Lamoureux June 14, 2019
