First Crush
She had only a name from the past, And fading memories of a boy, All those unsaid words of trust, In a life of sorrow, a flash of joy. That the little girl in early teen, Trepidly approached the gate, For a glimpse of her best friend's kin, With baited breath, wait. He saw the princess standing, And walked to her from the door, An unexplained feeling of longing, Was it a crush and nothing more? Her 'Sweet Dreams' Paul or Dan, Of the Barbara Conklin books, Would this handsome young man, Compliment on Mariah's looks? They played shuttles in the lawn, A mild breeze washed from the river, An inadvertant touch of hands drawn, The boy and the girl sensed a shiver. Then thirty three years rush, Life took them different ways, Yet the bond of the first crush, Sweetness that forever, stays? She traced him to break the spell, With a message as sweet as can be, "Good Morning, How are you? Do you remember me?"
