No Brakes
No Brakes. Accelerating at a faster and faster pace All down hill without a brake For I have lost control Feel no longer human Only smothering consuming darkness And biting bitter cold For I lingered in limbo Alone For much too long I was never weak But strong I pushed myself too far Just too many wounds that would not heal Life but a bed of nails I know longer feel Nothing but pain Left abounded naked in acid train I yelled out screamed And no one came Umbilical chord severed from the world No one knows the dark places and things I have seen Wake from a dream to a nightmare A barren desert where nothing grows Or is evergreen A far off uncharted island Washed up on the shore I once ate sweet apples But now they are rotten to the core A single drop in an endless ocean So many wasted years I know what hell is like Cried a sea of internal tears Viewing life go by through a telescope Always on the outside looking in Hurled myself in the deep end Then found out I couldn’t swim Always tiredly holding my head above the water Kissed the Bosons daughter Free-falling through the sky With no parachute Deemed to hit the ground Who cares When there’s no one there Soon to be forgotten An unknown name on a weathered grave stone Hidden from view under dense undergrowth Lived a torturous life of loneliness Just I Me Alone. A heart without a home. Peter Dome©2019.
