Two Out of Three Ain'T Bad
The Aliens saw from their ship high above a planet that fitted their needs. They broke into mirth at discovering the Earth and hoped they could finally proceed. But rules are rules, they had quite a few that often caused nothing but strife. It was strictly prohibited if a world exhibited any sign of intelligent life. So that was the question their minds had to ponder on what they would find on the ground? They landed their ship for a rather quick trip to identify what they had found. Would Earth's many Creatures rise to the challenge and would they be prone to impress? To be off good genes and be remarkably keen and pass a most difficult test. The first Beast they met having walked quite a bit was a thing of considerable size. They bade a firm greeting and were pleased by the meeting and hoped it was prudent and wise. 'They call me a Cow,' said the Beast unashamed. 'I eat grass and care for my young. But my world's getting hotter and it's hard to find water, I can no longer feel my tongue.' 'How can this happen?' They responded in kind, 'Such a problem should never exist. With resources abundant, it seems quite redundant you would be in need of assist.' They then took their leave, a little concerned for the issues the creature expressed. But they liked her a lot so the Earth had a shot of surviving the Alien's test. Next up the trail they happened to meet a Beast full of splendor and glory. He was a mighty black Horse, a magnificent force and was eager to tell of his story. 'The ozone we're losing, the soil's not improving, I'm unsure how long we can last. The air's getting thicker and it's making me sicker and our future looks worse than the past.' They thanked for his time and bade him farewell and thought on the things they were told. The Creatures were trying but their planet was dying and they were losing all sense of control. Conditions were tough but the Creatures persist and they were smarter than first it appeared. They had an eager attention to tell their Dimension, the Earthlings were better than feared. They continued their journey and not far away, they came upon a very large home. And found it compelling to find a dwelling where one Creature lived all alone. He invited them in and gave them a seat and told what his species had done. They hung on each word and became quite perturbed that a test going well was undone. They went back to their ship to give it some thought as the Human had made them both sad. But the Cow and the Horse were still stellar of course, so two out of three ain't so bad. The End *For those who might be interested. I will be posting my cartoon 'Bob's your Uncle' on my homepage. A new one will appear every second day.
