Kim's Birthday Poem
As I 'gayly' reflect on your birthday tomorrow, I've reason for pause both in joy and in sorrow, But give me 'three minutes' and know, take this in, That forever I'll love you, divorce too, a win, And the fodder, God gave us so we might grow more In His love that refines us (though pain all abhor). As I've aged, now I see loss and love as twin brothers, And learned to suspect more opinions of others Negating all pain, who make happiness God, Paint the Bible a joke with pale lives I think odd, For they think they've the Truth and have nothing to learn When they mock those who struggle and suffer in turn! One who's sure that he's right has no clue his life's clueless I did lose a wife, but souls feeling aren't callous. As wounds healed with time, we both kept most shared friends, Though surprising to some, this did buck current trends That would demonize others and try to fix blame. Would a humble man tell God He must stay the same? Is the food all that fancy on days of a picnic, Our futures be certain with life more eugenic? Is yesterday's fancy your hope for today? Or are joys that we share 'definition' of play? On your day, dear gay 'ex,' so OK in my book That I still feel some joy when a guy gives you look!
