I want so much to be pleasing to You in thought, word and deed; but there is so much about me that I know is not pleasing to You. Often thoughts enter my mind that I am ashamed of and though I reject them I know they will return unbidden and I will have to reject them again. Sometimes in the heat of anger I say things I don't really mean and later I'm sorry and ashamed of my words. Lord, when I ask You to keep one hand on my shoulder and Your other hand over my mouth, I really mean it. Help me to temper my words that I won't regret them later; And Lord, sometimes I do things I wish I had never done, And I am ashamed before You. Please help me to make sure my brain is in proper working order and well in gear before saying or doing anything. Give me patience, Lord. That I may carry out all my duties with a happy heart and never hurt or neglect another living soul. Give me energy that I may be able to carry out all my earthly tasks to their finish and do it well. Give me wisdom that I may not be fooled by the devil's tricks. Give me understanding that I may not judge others wrongly. Give me strength of character, that I may not disappoint You in any of my ways. Amen
