Berlin Stands
On the 28th storey silenced by the sight Of steeples and monuments, towers at twilight I gazed out the window in awe at Berlin And thought of the war the bombs and the sin. The City now built to perfection again Who would think it could happen to their Countrymen The women and children condemmed by their creed The Jews were in hell, they were born just to bleed. I went to the site, the memorial ground To remember my fellowman and here I then found Concrete slabs put in place for the jews that were lost Concrete slabs for 6 million, the world's holocaust. Just two thousand seven hundred slabs to recall T'was a random number to remember them all I weaved in and out to the sound of death's knell As the purple black sky depicted the hell. With shadows of darkness clouding my mind With thoughts of those murdered and those left behind I walked through the concrete in a fog, in a mist T'was just 60 years when with gas they were kissed. Then I danced on the bunker where Hitler had died For a moment I froze as I thought of inside. I had to move on, the memories too dark Ghostly shivers, empty tombs, incineration stark Yet remembered they are, 6 million in all Each lost their paradise, each missed their call.
