Hello, 50 Years Ago
In my senior year of high school, my mother signed me up to go to a computer school in Texas where I was to go after the summer. But the winding roads of life don't always take you to where you suppose to go, because sometimes, "goodbyes and hellos" get in your way. I was nineteen at the time and unsure about the path I should take. A neighbor in Chicago gave me the name of a college that he recommended. I was working and taking a few classes at the city college in the community. After class one day, I called the school with the number that was given to me. The young lady answered the phone and said, "Hello, Chicago Better College". I was certain that I had dialed the wrong number, and although I was looking for Chicago Best College, I decided to inquire about the college I had on the phone.* Long story short, I liked what I heard and pursued enrolling at Chicago Better College instead of Chicago Best College. Four years later I graduated from a school I never knew existed. This all started after hearing the word "Hello" which literally changed the entire course of my life, setting me on a venture I could not have charted. No, smoke did not get into my eyes, but either I dialed wrong or my neighbor gave me the wrong number. Or was there something else going on? Anyway, I forgot about Texas as well as my neighbor's advice, all because "Hello" got stuck in my ears. 01162019PoSoupContest, Hello Poetry, Silent One;*Fictious names; Narrative 2P
