Educated Polluters
We gave our children the best start in life, That set them on the path to higher education, They have also turned out kind, caring and happy. They all, like me, love Christmas and have been more than generous, To others and all have good and true friends. And have slowly but not without hiccups, Learned the harsh realities about the Value of money, Now understanding the need to sometimes go without or make do. Have we taught them well? Up till a few weeks before Christmas we were patting ourselves on the back, As we looked around and saw how other children were faring, That was until I reminded my eldest daughter To sort her plastic and cardboard for the bins. Her reply "I don't have time for that" Has since put a dent in our ego's, Now the questions shaking our peace of Mind. Who will save the planet if they have not the time? What led us to leave conservation out of the conversation? And why did we not give them extra time to get down and dirty? We have to face the fact that leading by example is of little help, If we don't give them time to follow that example!
