Memorable Little Faces
Floor coverings were what I laid To make a living for a while Many things happened in that time To cause me to have a big smile A job in an elementary school Was one we talked about a lot Most of their flooring looked ok But the office carpet was shot We carried pad on our shoulders They were very big rolls but light Go through the playground we were told To the second door on the right We passed a pretend tea party That is where the humor began One of the little girls looked up And said, "Oh my, that's a big man!" We walked carefully down the hall Many children would stop and stare Some smiles and giggles all around We seemed to be popular there Suddenly a door opened up A whole class of kids together Followed their teacher from the room Holding hands, their only tether It was really cute to see them All were small, but the last was least He looked around wide eyed and yelled Like he'd just seen a terrible beast! I did that job for Fifteen years It could be hard, but there were times Rather than hard on knees and back It added a few more laugh lines!
