The Cross
The Cross and promised afterlife, a whisper’s echo – Father’s call, to hear The Way, The Truth, The Life. From Eden lost within our strife, forever’s shade both great and small, The Cross and promised afterlife. Horizons sharper than a knife, Jerusalem’s divine new wall, to see The Way, The Truth, The Life. Those dead sins that used to run rife, his blood has now removed it all, The Cross and promised afterlife. A groom and his appointed wife, for every child first had to fall to know The Way, The Truth, The Life. The heartbeats like the drum and fife, didactic letters sent by Paul, The Cross and promised afterlife, to live The Way, The Truth, The Life. ---------------------------------------------------------------- Poem Written: 01.08.19 - 01.09.18 Form: Villanelle in Iambic Tetrameter Current Contest: Your Best 2019-2020 Villanelle Sponsor: William Kekaula First Contest: Villanelle Poetry Contest Sponsor: Nina Parmenter
