A City of Refuge
A CITY OF REFUGE We’re building a city of refuge; May all who come to it see That Christ is the hope of salvation, The answer for mankind is he. May its walls be the walls of protection From the forces of evil outside; When anyone comes to our fortress May he know he’ll in safety abide. May its lights be the lights to the world, May they glow through the darkness of sin, May they shine with the truth of the gospel To each lost soul who would enter in. May its floors be like paths men may follow, May they not be a confusing maze; May each speaker who comes to the platform Tell clearly and simply God’s ways. May its organ be filled with God’s music, May the singers sing clearly the words, May the anthem that sounds from the people Be the truth that will always be heard. May its tower reach upward to heaven, May all who will see it then know That this temple of God here is standing As a hope in a world full of woe. Yes, we’re building a city of refuge, And we pray as we meet here this day That each person who comes lost or lonely Will go out on a different way. Dedicated to the First Church of God on Refugee Road at their groundbreaking ceremony.
