A Better Place
A BETTER PLACE He loved to be with family and all his many friends; It seemed the happy fellowship would never come to end. He seemed to have a future of happiness in life, But then there came this illness and with it grievous strife. But then he overcame it and we rejoiced once more, And once again were seeing him living like before. But then that tragic illness invaded once again; This time it came with vengeance and seemed like it would win. The family all gathered, the pastor was there, too, And sorrow overwhelmed them as close to death he grew, And then the suffering ended and peace flowed from his face, For he had left his body, gone to a better place. We may not know the reason his life was cut so short, But we can claim God’s promise and to it now resort. He left this life of trial and bade disease good-bye, Now he is whole and healthy in his home in the sky. Though we may still be waiting and grieving since he’s missed, These are the words of comfort which we can have from this: We soon shall join this loved one redeemed by saving grace When we, too, there will gather in this, a better place.
