A Saddened Heart
The rain has been falling steadily, as the day has turned to night. Shrouding the scene, a dismal gray before completely losing light. The pelting raindrops fall noisily against the skylight overhead At times, muffling the sound of the waves, usually heard instead. With the rain, came the wind, not intending to be left behind. Adding volume to the din that will end tonight's peace of mind. The night is totally dark, not a glimmer of star or moonlight. Not even a ship at sea's flickering beacon can break through this night. Watching the sheets of rain run down the glass of the door. As if it is cleansing, washing away evidence of what was there before. I thought, if only the same could be done for a saddened heart. That nature's own, cleansing rain, could renew, refresh, restart. To wipe away, all traces of pain, before all hope was gone. So a heart, with little left to give, can have reason to go on.
