She Fell Unconscious In Her Car
She fell unconscious in her car, they think it is her heart. She is young, but un-doctored, too busy taking care of others To worry about any needs of her own. One minute talking Next in the hospital Head bandaged up They had to cut the jeep up To pull her out With a neck brace Conked out at hospital too EKG and CAT and PRP and All those other tests whose acronyms I obviously do not know showed nothing She was told to not drive for four to six months As she could kill herself, and worse, others. That was six days ago. She is driving her friend’s Car to and from work, thirty-one miles a day now. She had a doctor’s follow up visit, but she was Too busy driving her sick relatives to their appointments To make it to hers. Only two people know she is not supposed To be driving. I am careful now, she has told me. As careful as last time? I ask her. She snorted. “If anything happens, I will pull over,” she says. “Like last time?” I guess. I am amazed at her lack of concern for thousands of others, So concerned she is about her own. But what is more surprising is her friend, who is a nurse, Allowing her to borrow her Escalade? Anyone else concerned?
