Mean Old Substitute Teacher
The teacher we all had grown to love, Was nowhere to be found. In walked this hefty, old man, Who slammed his suitcase on the ground. He had a beard like Santa Claus, And was husky like him, too. In fact, as I recall…. There was a huge hole in his left shoe. He didn’t seem chipper or upbeat…. And he didn’t smile too much. I think he hated his job…. Or maybe he didn’t want to be in class with us. He wrote his name on the board. “Mr. Gronosky” is what it said. We all snickered at the stupid name, And all those bumps upon his head. We stood up and started to dance and play. He didn’t like that, and yelled at us, saying “SIT DOWN!!” Immediately, our smiles all turned into frowns. He was a mean old substitute…. Not a lick of joy in his soul. I could picture him as the grumpy type…. Daily breakfast was nails in a bowl. It was a quiet day in class…. Didn’t have fun at all. I sneezed and blew my nose, And he said “GO STAND BY THE WALL!!” I couldn’t stand this guy. He was so grumpy and mean. “It’s times like these,” I said to myself…. “I wish I had a time machine.” We wanted Mrs. Deidre back. We couldn’t stand this guy. He was nasty, and ugly and fat…. And had a patch across his eye. That was the worst substitute ever…. Absolutely hated him.
