Despirited
I’m folding up your clothes neatly, As I took them from your shelf. I held them tight against my blubbering face, So I could smell your former self. Tears stinging my swollen face, As I breath your essence in deep. Devastated you’re no longer here with me, Nothing left to do but weep. I know it caused you great sadness, I know it all caused you pain. You were captured by your demons, They were never going to set you free again. There were times you tried to fight them, This time it finally won. They came back and overpowered you, You had no where left to run. I stand lonely and numb in your room, Remembering all the fun times we had. I look over at your chair and you’re not there, The only feelings right now is alone and sad. I would have done anything to help you, But I know it wouldn’t have been enough. Your addiction had its tentacles tightly around you, Like a thousand locked handcuffs. I know you haven’t really left me, You whisper ‘I’m closer than you know. I’ll be the whisper in the wind, -I’ll be everywhere you go’. But I’d rather have you here on Earth, That feeling must now be subdued. Without you here to help me breathe, I will now become unglued.
