As the Curtain Falls
When your painfull words become to much to turn the other cheek, I want to stand right up and fight but, I have become too weak. My smile and sparkle that once beamed so bright, have given way to pain, I tried to run but I got found time and time again. A bitter taste of happiness the silent taste of fear, with stealth and power you changed so much when did that beast appear? You had my love, you had my heart, what got you twisted all around? I searched my mind throughout the years but, no answers can be found. Did you think my love was fading, did you think I'd walk away, I promise you I never thought of that until that fateful day. The shock of what you did still haunts me, I carry the scars everywhere, I know now I should have ran further but, at that point I did not care. You promised it would never happen again and I believed you right at the start, I know what I was doing was stupid but, I loved you with all of my heart. Far too many excuses have passed now, I know you can't change at all. This time I will have to run further this is not my last curtain call. I will take my courage from survivors as I read thier stories with pride, and one day I know I'll stand taller, and like them I won't have to hide.
