Tarnished Knight
Rusted armour, Dented and cracked, Speckled with blood Yours and others From past glory days When gory seemed glory Sword missing it's point Broken off in some duel Vizor no longer lets in Enough light for you Your bones are all wounded Nary a one unblemished War is not the toy Some seem to think Especially when your armour, Sports more than one chink And your speed is reduced, Your strength a mere fraction, Of when you were young, And more a man of action Now your steed refuses To bear your new weight And you always seem To arrive, When it's too late Your castle ransacked, Your dreams gone up in smoke, And in terms of a noble, You're really quite broke... And now fear creeps into your once mighty psyche, Previously unknown to you, Your thoughts to flee Much more likely And being a knight Now not so appealing And shedding more blood, Not such a good feeling But you're stuck in your title, You're branded and trapped, And instead of charging the foe, You'd preferred that you napped One day you now know You will bested for sure, And your last living thought, What was it all for?
