What is the meaning of life? A question that seems unanswerable, and yet I exist and seek an answer! Intelligence helps to distinguish fact from fiction; but what of the human soul, that intangible, ethereal link to the impossible? I feel humans need more than facts; more trust, more compassion, more love, more to believe in. Call it God, faith, hope, or wishful thinking; but I feel there is something! I've examined life through the eyes of science and seen Man as a series of genes; genetically linked in a chain of time. But what purpose does that serve? It's enough to drive one crazy! Is the purpose of life merely to procreate forever? If that's the sole goal of life; then mission accomplished! There must be more to life than just being alive; a purpose for being. Is it selfish to want more? Maybe. It doesn't make much sense; yet I still feel there must be more. I sense something; I don't know what; it's just a feeling, but it's been harder to ignore over the years. Could it be a fear of death? No, it isn't fear. It's more of a feeling I'm missing something. Perhaps something miraculous! If I'm destined to blink out when death turns off the switch, so be it! I won't exist; there will be no eureka moment, or I told you so cliche! But, if when I close my eyes in death, I'll experience a reawakening to a metaphysical, spiritual realm, then, despite the incalculable odds, I want that experience even more!
