Who Do You Think You Are
Who Do You Think You are? Every night the moon asks me, “Who do you think you are?” Every morning the sun scorns and asks, “Who do you think you are?” My feather like companion beneath my head whispers into my ear “Darling, who are you?” My mind is a turmoil My heart is the calmness of the ocean Purple hours are not enough Golden minutes are not enough No, they are not enough for me to know What I am and what I’ll be If a bright future awaits silently for me I searched every alley of my inner self With the constant voice echoing more in my heart less in my mind “Who do you think you are?” Who am I? What am I? What I can be? Nothing led to certainty After the battle within me After I was defeated completely And lay still in my bed with my eyes stuck on the lunar light Drowned in defeat and drenched in disappointment I fell asleep But, When I got up in the morning And faced myself in the mirror and touched my face along with my imperfections I found it I found me “Who do you think you are?” I am me And you can’t change it I am me and I am proud of it I am proud of all my perfection because that is me I wasn’t defeated, I was just lost And I found my way back Now every night and every morning the Sun and Moon point down towards me saying “Ah! there she is”
