Love Odyssey Part 3: Redemption
I learn now she is no more, The heart just couldn’t bear the stress, Cold and still, lying on the floor With an unworn wedding dress. I sit here pondering Over once true love gone at last, The mind now begins to wandering, What if, I’d forgiven the past? If I’d given what was left, We may have been together strong, Yet in my heart was a cleft Filled up with all she'd done wrong. Perhaps, in the next place, her I’ll find, And with truest soul implore That hand in hand, warm and kind, Company we make, forevermore. With a final breath of air And revelation newly shown, Letting go of worldly care As from this world now I’ve flown. Awoken in a field of green Under light of setting sun, Beauty beyond all I’ve seen In a place tears no longer run. Taking in surrounding grace, By no other am I met, But in the distance by cliff face, Stands a familiar silhouette. Going forth with rapid breath To bring peace to mind and wired nerve, Here she is, beyond even death From her my path should never swerve. I took a place at her side While she stared straight ahead, Not my way had she eyed, Not a word there was said. After many minutes spent Gazing on the evening red, From her heart thoughts were sent As firmly set she then said: “You’ve some nerve to meet me here, For my being here’s your cause, Go on, go ahead and steer Yourself away from my many flaws.” “My dear, ‘twas you I tried to find From the moment I’d met my fate, Yet it seems to my mind, Here, for me, you did wait. At that she gave a blush, Knowing what I’d said as true, This brought my heart to rush With feelings old, and feelings new. “My love for you was always there Through ev’ry single mistake I made, I’ll always love, always care Until the sun gives out to shade.” “I stand behind all I’d said For the pain you caused my heart, Yet, my heart is far from being lead, This place, perhaps, a second start. In the past we’ve had our grief, But in this place where time won’t end, Our past is now a fallen leaf To a sprouting love to mend.” Turning then, with eyes now bright At hearing of her one true dream, Through all of our pain and plight In paradise she’d truly seem. Without a word, we then embraced, Earthly struggles gone now, it seemed, In our Heaven, fingers interlaced As this love of ours had been redeemed.
