The Eden Effect
Human nature has no sense of time and space as being an automatic element of change. Indeed, modern mankind bears the very same degrading capacities for evil as did our forefathers. Regardless of where they were stationed on the planet or what time period they existed, they had the ability to both do good as well as to be evil. *Ancient history records a SILKEN ruler, rich and powerful, who had little concern for anyone but himself. Moreover, records reveal that he came from good and decent stock, having descended from a family who shared graciously with the citizens of their domain. Drowning in a pool of OPULENCE handed down from his forefathers four centuries prior to his reign, it appeared that any trace of VICARIOUS blood had completely vanished. Indeed, he had no concept of what it meant to act or suffer on behalf of another. He ruled dictatorially and any who voiced opposition were at best thrown into prison or even worse, killed. His was a steady diet of violence and war with no regard for international laws. An ADORN of militaristic gear every day was his attire, and he demanded that everyone including his family to EXULT and render praise to him regardless of what he did or didn't do. He made a MOCKERY of justice and goodwill, rendering void any IMPETUS for change. It was he alone who created the vast CHASM of relational turmoi, and it would take time and God alone if ever there would be tranquility. His depraved reign was proof. The die was cast long ago in a garden called Eden. 08142018PoetrySoupContest, Eight Word Challenge, John Hamilton, 7P *Fictional. 14-24 line max.
