My Five Senses
MY FIVE SENSES Five senses hearing, seeing, smelling, touch and taste Received, perceived and analysed by brain to accept sending message to the trove of memory, some to select and to be preserved in glory. some to reject to be deleted from time-directory. On sundown Mom walking in yard holding my hand reciting a sweet rhyme giving the errand of affection of Mom and child to bind. I can still hear the perfect rhythm in mind. I can feel her touch: Childhood memory to rewind. My Dad was my idol, philosopher and guide His advice and instructions are my pride. His words still knock my ears to hear clearly. I can visualize his eyes showering blessing dearly. On success, he touched my head, I can forget barely. In Grand mom’s garden, all the flowers were white. Gardenia, white roses, varieties of jasmine bloomed bright. Snowy whiteness with dawn dew to put in vase enchanted my eyes to be painted in mind-canvas. Senses owed to smell and sight, simultaneous. All on a sudden, a lady of little acquaintance came carrying full lunch on my birthday putting me in shame. Fifteen years have passed, I still recollect and relish the flavor and fantastic taste mingled with her love and affection at best. To gift a posy of flower on my first romance, one opportune moment gave me a rare chance. Slight finger- touch shivered me from top to toe. Bubbling blood flushed, rushed in flood to flow. That touch is glued to soul in glaze, glare and glow. 07/3/18 'Five Senses' Contest by Viv Wigley Fourth Place
