He Will Never Know
It was a day like no other bright summer day, a day of incredible love full of blessings. Another day of uncontrollable passion, still very young embracing each other's dreams. He came close, and I met his gaze; his voice just above a whisper, "You know I want you as mine. No other love can warm my heart now that I've known the comfort of your arms." Tomorrow came and went, and no sign of my betrothal. They came and swept him away during the night as they said, "You belong to another." I curled up, the doors to the world seemed closed; nothing seemed to lift the graying shadows. I fought not to cling to the darkness of my dreams. Determined not to wake because I'd have to face the unraveling of what I was running away from. Heaven came into my life, then was taken away leaving a soul that's barely breathing. I shiver and watch the sunshine rise, as waves ripple over autumn leaves. 7/16/2018
