Shame
I don't remember meeting you-when or where. I do remember my life before you, but the memories are few and vague-like a happy dream I can recall-but nothing more. You came into my life without me noticing. You entered silently and secretly. I was too young to know you were even there. You spoke softly then-just whispers. Sowing silent seeds of doubt in me each and everyday. As time went on, you got louder. You couldn't hide as I caught on to you. I got stronger and tried to fight you-it was all i knew to do. You knew I would fight harder, the louder you spoke. You tricked me into drowning myself. Over time you took my body, my mind and you almost took my soul. You slowly and deliberately turned me into someone else. Someone I couldn't love-a self-fulfilling prophecy. But no more. I've learned not to fight, but to love.
