If She Had Lived
If she had lived, I am sure she would still have a lot to give, To her family, her friends and me. She left us early, it was not meant to be. She touched the lives of all she came across, It has been many years and I still feel the loss. I need her more now as the years go by, I just want to hold her, why did she have to die? If she had lived she would be spoiling the little ones, Or watching my son hit a homerun. Maybe fussing over someone’s dinner plate, And worrying about me being out too late. Her face grows gray with each passing year, Losing her memory is what I really fear. I can barely hear the last words she said, When she was on her deathbed. If she had lived she would now be old, I would have cared for her without being told, To return to her what she had to give, If she had lived.
