Hail To You, Mr Eagle
Hail to you, Mr. Eagle: You're a national treasure By monetary measure-- On the back of our dollar Symbolism plain to history scholars. Thirteen stars float above you The first colonies do so glow Twelve arrows in your claw down low The Nation of Israel's Tribes for to show. Hail to you, Mr. Eagle; How you soar as you fly Massive wingspan seeking Nirvana high in the sky. Torpedo-like you dive for your prey Scattering innocent creatures in your way As you eye the target of your next feast Never pausing to reflect in the least That the olive branch you clutch in your claw Is an anomaly bizarre, unlike the lucky law That protects you from hunters-- Your anguished caw eternal Were it to exit your maw. Hail to you, Mr. Eagle: Denizen of ethereal regions of azure-blue sky Heaven forfend you should meet an untimely end-- At the point of a bullet Whose irreverent marksman's Trigger-finger did pull it.
