Sunday Blues
Ah, those Sunday Blues... Tomorrow's back to work... I don't want today to end... I'm in terror.... My first newspaper ad As a Dept. Store toy buyer, Full page, full run, And the hottest game of the year... And I've misspelt it!! I cringe in horror Of the morrow My boss a jerk He'll eat me alive I'll be a disgrace! This is something, I don't want to face! I slink into work the next day, To my office, quite remote.... and sure enough, soon after... The determined footsteps fall Down the lonely hall That led to my office To show up, How'd I have the gall? And low and behold, Into my office he charges, Beaming mysteriously, What's going on? He gona fire me, And for him this is fun? But no, he's come to congratulate me, The very President of my company Was very more than pleased.... What the hell's goin' on? Am I being teased? Turns out my boss had changed some pricing in my ad, Without letting me know, He wanted to hit %'s off, And what he did, Later made me cough... He took the years hottest game, The one I had misspelled Lowered the sale price, But he couldn't tell, He sold it below cost, And ad response was great, Toy business in 9 stores, Went right through the roof I was a hero, No longer held aloof, Sometimes fools become heros And the mean boss becomes a fool, To this day I hate Sundays They still just feel so cruel.
