Grains of Sand
Grains of Sand.......... Grains of sand, pass through the hourglass, The present gives way, becoming the past. Time to get up,make myself heard, If there's no one to listen, what good are the words? Trains clatter by,on their way to tomorrow, Try to buy back, what I used to borrow....... All of a sudden,it goes off the tracks, I can't stand the sight,so I just won't look back. Planes grab their wings, they take to the sky, They seem to fly,Why can't I? I just need someone to take me from here, To hold me in their arms, when the end looks near. But my heart is still broken,as I shed a tear, It seems like a ghost, grabbed the wheel to steer? The grains of sand, continue to fall, I just turned away, then dropped the ball. I think of shifting sands, blowing in the sun, They'll bury you alive,it's time to run. The changes reveal, what's left of truth, So much is lost, the innocence of youth. I see the lines grow bolder, appear on my face, The journey's of life, are the roads that they trace. Sometimes so happy, while others quite sad, Sometimes at peace while others just mad. I think of myself as I start to grow old, I don't always believe, all that I'm told........ I just found my place, now it's been sold, Maybe there's another, just up the road? The journey's been long, memories are grand, Sometimes it feels, like I stand in quicksand....... I don't think I'll ever,be able to escape, And if I do,will it be too late?????????? The time is at hand,I just can't wait, Just like a fish, that has taken the bait..........
