For one who has always put other peoples needs above his own, it is time to start looking out for me. I think I should have the right to be happy, to do what I want to do. I'm sad inside. I've been sad inside. Is it my responsibility to keep others from being sad? Should I have to exchange my happiness for their sadness? I have this romantic notion that it is my duty, my mission here on Earth. Maybe, it is, but why can't we come to a compromise? Can I do it part time? Look at Robin Williams. He spent his whole life making people smile. He had a gift. He could make people happy, but it was at the expense of his own happiness. He's been sad his whole career and no one knew until he killed himself. I see happiness all around me. I want to be able to touch it, to breathe it, to drown in it. I want to make it mine.
