Delusions
Oh, how it hurts Ears ringing, chest throbbing Spiders flooding the room in spurts A voice emanates, so harsh he leaves me sobbing I curl myself tightly in a ball iPod blaring to drown out it all As clawed fingers scrape across my wall Lying there I feel so small As the night goes on His hands drag me to the place I call hell A cold gray domain that never sees dawn Where fog fills my lungs and I cannot yell He beckons me into the darkness While the other tempts me with fire His shadows are deep and heartless While the flames chant, a haunting choir Naked and fearful Mute in the void of monochrome I submit to the gloom, take his hand, rather tearful And we begin to roam I am led through my delusions Gripping the hand of the one who has been there my whole life He shows me my mind’s vast arsenal of illusions And allows my hallucinations to run rife but he returned me to my bed and stroked my weary head he lulled me from my dread and into a sleep like lead I wake and he is there The last delusion to remain He stands with a dull stare No sign of last night’s strain Hours later, a whale sings from the sky His face flickers with quick disdain I continue my day as if nothing’s awry Though we both know this is the start of the delusions again
