Did Anyone Hear the Song Bird Cry
Deep in the woods in the dark of night Creatures crawling, hunting til daylight Did anyone hear the song bird cry A sorrowful whistle, don't know why The sun arose over the hill People, animals eating their morning meal Did anyone hear the song bird cry A sorrowful whistle, don't know why The whistle became louder hard to ignore Work, duties, everyone rushing out the door In the midst of it all the song bird cried His sorrowful song could be heard over the tide The tide of the ocean as the waves hit the shore A sorrowful whistle heard over the ocean roar Did anyone hear the song bird cry A sorrowful whistle, don't know why People people everywhere The sad whistle, does anyone care Rushing around with their lives Singles, children, husbands and wives Did anyone notice as the little bird cried in vain On the branches his tear drops leaving a stain Did anyone hear the song bird cry A sorrowful whistle, don't know why Wait, there is one searching for the sound Of the sorrowful whistle heard all around Some aggravated wanted to destroy Could care less if sad little bird was girl or boy Luckily a kind soul found the little bird in a nest He kissed away his tears and gave him the best A sorrowful whistle no longer the little bird's cry No time for sadness, he can to the sky and beyond fly A sorrowful whistle no longer will be heard He was given a chance, now can fly like a bird So if a sorrowful whistle is heard by you Will you help or ignore, what will you do
