Counting Prayers
I wonder if the Father counts the prayers that we pray? Does He read between the lines in the things that we say? Does He count broken promises, as our faith starts to wane? Is His heart filled with sadness when His children complain? Though He gave us His breath to call on His name We say selfish prayers, seeking fortune and fame He listens intently, to both the good and the bad Yet we praise Him in blessings, and blame Him when sad Then when death comes to call, we ask for a reason Though He's told us already, that we're here but a season Even the angels rejoice when someone's reborn Yet, when one child is lost, all of Heaven will mourn And in how many prayers do we offer Him praise? Or do our voices stay silent, maybe sometimes, for days? Are His children content without heartache or loss, Forgetting to pray, with no need of the cross? So what if the Father counts the prayers that we pray? Will He know you by heart when we meet Him one day? Will your prayer count be many in the name of His Son? Or will you be a stranger, for your prayers were none?
