Yesteryear
It was a lovely day in China and France ...even in New Mexico. There was green, gold, orange, bright vermillion, and cool air in the trees. In the backyard, Mary played with her children. The sky held small clouds and light, and was happy. The grass, in the yard was smiling as they played. Under the bridge, there was sunshine in the water, and an old log, that liked to swim and play tag with the rocks on the banks. The children lay on their backs in the smiling grass, grinning at the happy sky. All around Mary it was peaceful and quite as she hung clothes on a wire. Damp shirts waved at the breeze, as it passed. Her dress was not new, but it was clean and well kept It tasted of sunlight as it waited on evening. It loved the evening, it loved the night, it loved to rest on the bedroom floor, in a wrinkled pile, under a moon. Yes, even then, there was a moon -and stars..
