Children of the Streets
Urchins of the night appear from the shadows To play with our peace of mind by pointing to Us and laughing. We are nothing to them except a means To replenish their perfect hunger for calamity That will never be sated. They'd appear with wings to float with the trash, Kicking our souls and emptying our spirits And we wonder why We look away, the guilt is shallow. We mirror them and wish only if. But we shatter the mirror and go on our way, Pretending not to see or feel something That resembles compassion. They want nothing from us but everything. They want to haunt our living souls. Run away, run away to places unseen To hide and make clumsy love with each other And sing songs written for their deeds. They are everywhere and everywhere is here. The children of the streets.
