Enter Poem or Quote (Required)Required I’ll never get over the pain of losing my sweet Rosie. Thank God I was able to hold her for a short while before she flew off to be an angel baby. I only allowed a few close family members to be with us to say goodbye. A few pictures were taken and then one last kiss. Yesterday seemed to be the hardest day so far. My sister was so concerned and drove up all the way from Tennessee. In her hand a gift. I wasn’t in the mood for a gift but I graciously took it and when I opened it my eyes teared up and I wept. For it was picture of me holding my sweet Rosie in a tiny silver heart frame. It was just what I needed. I placed it gently on my mantel and will keep it there forever. Kindness comes in all shades, and this shade was silver. I’ll never get over the pain of being poor. After my husband lost his job we went to church after church monthly receiving gifts of food from the food pantries. Family would take donations for us just to pay our rent. My pastor found out that our car died and my husband had no way of going to interviews to find a job. It wasn’t too long after that a red used car drove up our driveway with our name on it. Kindness comes in all shades, this shade was red. I’ll never get over the pain of losing my puppy. Even though he was old it was still one of the hardest things I’ve ever had to go through. He was a gentle giant, a mighty Golden Retriever. When my sister passed away I adopted him and he became my soul-saving wonder. We had been through so much together. We both lost Karen and needed each other to try to let go. He was my baby boy, my reason for smiling. He followed me everywhere until he could no longer walk with ease. I knew it was time to let him go and be with Karen finally. The next day the doorbell rang. The florist was there with a big arrangement of white roses, my favorite flowers. They were arranged in the shape of a puppy and he was holing a dog bone. My friend was so concerned and decided it would make my heart smile to receive my favorite white roses. Kindness comes in all shades, this shade was white. See, it doesn’t matter how much something costs. All that matters is that those random acts of kindness saved my life during my darkest days. The pain I suffered will never go away, but with the gentle generosity and compassion of my loved ones gave me a sense of hope and peace. That frame will remind me of the love I have for my daughter, as well as the love my sister has for me. The car will remind me of the way my church community can be so benevolent to give the gift that gave my husband a great interview turning into a full-time job. The flowers will remind me of what a great friend I have and how special my dog really was to me. Kindness comes in all shades, these random acts of kindness were the shades of silver, red and white.
