At the Speed of Light
From the wet sodden ground two leaves in her palm are rescued as if she's found jewels. Reflecting the light, they are covered with pearls of glistening dew from the dawn She fondles them gently. A smile on her face Examining slowly, she will turn them around, like pieces of gold she has found A moment like this, has suspending all time A moment that's clearly sublime The soft light of morning halos her hair, to circle her curls, while framing her face Crowning the moment with Chantilly lace and swelling my heart with a small trace of pain My soul is imploding with love for this child... Yet, shadowing slowly is a knowing, somehow, that all things so fragile will last just awhile I know somewhere out there, a star's gone awry, A stray shooting star has traveled in line... to fracture the shell of this instant in time So quickly it comes, from the selvage of night Faster it comes, than the tempo of light to shatter such moments divine ______________________________________________ 1/16/17
