Farewell Mr Brown
A day to Mata's birthday We went as usual on our funny trip Mum had sent us to get somethings for her Just a little down the road, near Mr Brown's garden 'It's 4 p.m, Mr Brown's shoe will be out by now' I told Mata giggling Lo... Mr Brown's shoe wasn't on his old blue car And Mr Brown wasn't in the garden Behold Mr Brown is gone 'Gone to meet his wife' Mrs Beam his neighbour said tearfully Gone is our daily sweet rose But Mr Brown didn't leave without dropping a note To Billy, his loyal dog, Who came to deliver 'To Mata and Mary, thanks for your constant visit' With the note was our final rose from Mr Brown Slowly, without wide smile Without hard giggle We walked to where we knew he would be laid Laid beside Mrs Brown was Mr Brown Our very good old friend And written on his tomb was BEN BROWN (1929-2009) A great gardener, a Faithful Husband. Slowly, we dropped our last gift from Mr Brown His usual but final sweet Red Rose.
