Free People Are Brothers
Free people are brothers With swords of steel and wars now fought Along this path of endless weave We travel lone of lessons taught And faith which led us to believe That all is lost shan’t be the truth For as we stand in unity Our blood and scars to offer proof Now here as one we shall be free Shown pride and strength this foe does fall In scattered breaths and lonely screams On battlefields, sad echoes call ‘Cross crimson tides, unholy streams This tyranny fuels flaming wrath To burn the weak, the innocent Though time does come the aftermath A fate of armies long since spent When now we stand on mountains high Come hear our voices, steady roar As morning sun does wake the sky We bring an end to this, your war For here inscribed on sharpened blade A motto cast for all to see As brothers we have all been made As people, ever to be free 1/10/17 Written for The Swords Speak - Poetry Contest Sponsored by Julia Ward
