High Timber Autumn
Myriads of golden flickering leaves dance, Glinting reminders of coming circumstance. Stately spruces preside as they have done before with certain reserve, they know what’s in-store. A hearty clear stream, shares stories from on high with any who will listen, as it babbles by. Stands of birch trees closely huddled together, Warmly blanket their feet, determined to weather. Mossy damp scents with forest aromas convey An urgent message to all that snow is on its way. Succulent cranberries and wild blueberries abound, Last minute snacks for hungry bears around. Still there are a great many bare larders to fill, Burrows to protect; from the coming hard chill. Indeed, there is much work so much to prepare, As night prompts morning with moist brisk air. And at full moonrise, in a deep cobalt sky, Wolves will once again recite lonely cries.
