I sit by an open window writing Hoping to find my muse Warm sunshine and fresh air caress my skin A feeling of sheer joy peace and contentment Fills my soul and mind within. A newspaper near by Suddenly catches my eye Headline leaps from the page Reality strikes like a thunderbolt ''Hundreds of innocents dead in war'' Filling me with deep sadness and rage. It seems almost surreal And a million miles away But as I languish in the sublime There's a world out here in disarray And I can't do nothing about it. I can't hear Just imagine A mothers screams and cries As she holds her baby as it dyes Or see the countless starving The people living on the street The animals cruelly killed for meat.
