Last sight: shocked, he sees words pouring from my mouth, like the seven seas. The wave hit him like a rocky shore. First meeting: don’t remember this baby-faced grown man in twenties, chef dressed in white coat and slanted cap, mustache I think…giggle (left from far off past) I do remember spiking his tea at work with salt. Had no idea, what a whale’s water spout could do, until that very moment…thought he was going to hit - he was so mad. But he would have us waitresses serve him VIA milkshake cup…so perhaps he deserved it! Was it just per chance or did he seek romance, needing a ride and all, back and forth from work? We worked the midnight shift, Then he’d invite me in, into his sister's house, to chat and sip tea. Even on my birthday, when I took way too long bringing back my parent’s station wagon - at almost noon. Boy were they mad! Mom did not talk to me all day! So he never said I love you, nor kissed, nor hinted, but boy did he look mad, and sad, and sarcastic when I told him I’d joined the Navy. And that is the better part of my story BECAUSE soon I’d be a sailor’s wife! 12/19/2016
