Christmas 2016
Imagine you are having a very nice dream, warm and fuzzy. Suddenly you wake up to realize, it was the dream within a dream that you woke from. In your `now` dream the year flew past at the rate of knots, with all sorts of activities and functions and engagements and business dealings and funerals and and and and and.......................................... Then there is this silence, you can’t help but think: why this silence. The clock radio kicks into action. Immediately you think: I haven’t finished the Christmas shopping, haven’t sent those cards, haven’t wrapped those presents. What will I get for so and so? How will I fit all those Christmas do’s into this time frame............. You realize, this is life, this is how it happens. We need the silence to question, to reflect, on what life is really about. We need this moment, to be in this moment, to live this moment, to appreciate this moment. One of the buzzwords for this year was to say that there was a lot of opportunity, rather than to say that we are very busy. Ultimately, life is what it is, life is to live and to make the most of it, whatever the circumstance. Imagine how busy God must be, all the time, for all time. In the midst of all, that He gave us a Savior, a kind of `get out of jail card’, free for all. Do we understand the significance of that? Not half.
