Seizing the Serene Feeling
Since boyhood I led a river life and being closer to beauty, I saw what was hidden from me: a pure faith that made me believe in a God who created spectacular scenes with white oaks in a landscaped surrounded by blue water running through forests where ravens emitted scary shrills; in that wilderness I felt very safe, danger didn't exist. Going down that smooth river, the scenery stunned more: tall firs with frost swayed while sunset grew in intensity, the wild sounds of coyotes, constantly heard, faded out slowly; peace was never as profound as that evening heading home. One last time I rowed down my river of flowery bends, but too fragile my bones had become to withstand long hours and seize the serene feeling before darkness would arrive with the loneliness, but would have death accepted a bribe?
