My Life Is But a Fragment of the Moments I'M Awake
My life is but a fragment of the moments I’m awake Standing on this balcony above the frozen ground Gazing on a future that is much to harsh to take Walking down the latitudes and longitudes I’ve found Pondering a jump to reach a branch in front of me Leafless in the worry of a spring that’s come and gone Carvings on its trunk become the past that I can see Measuring the shadows sneaking stealthily ‘cross the lawn Times have fled this heart of mine that whimpers in the cold Shivering in endless breaks to never fill the space Days they seem to laugh at me now that I’m getting old Wandering the wrinkles long created on my face Once I felt much younger than I ever had before Mornings brought about a dream the night could not contain When within my presence stood the one I did adore Promising forever in my life she would remain Now I count the minutes since my lonely heart did break Wiping off the tears this sorrow causes me to weep My life is but a fragment of the moments I’m awake Longing for the solitude to lull me as I sleep
