Nancy - Black Fire
Nancy turned to look my way, Early morning, one spring day. Her black eyes bright Like a new moon's light, She caught me unaware. I looked in wonder back at her As melancholy filled the air. For a rising sun would part us, With our hope of love left bare... Unfettered years had passed us by, When we met beneath a summer sky. Wrapped in the arms of a weeping tree, And a few precious moments left to be, We lived the passion of that lost dream. As flames consumed the veil of years And warm caresses stripped our fears, Below that new moon's pitch black light, With just this one single precious night, Our hearts, for now, were free. Again in chilly autumn I passed her on the street. Far beyond the hopes of any dream - I saw her look, her sideways glance, I saw black fire and the trance That thrilled so long ago… Living is a mystery As cold winter nights grow long. With just melancholy memories, And an old, unfinished song. written 2016.11.12 entered in CONTEST 258 any form, any topic max of 36 lines -Brian Strand 2/4/2017 - placed 3rd Let the Pens Flow - Narrative Poetry Contest Sponsored by: Jenish Somadas
