A Second Chance
Life is like a circle that really is true, For here I am sitting talking to you. If anyone had told me that ten years ago, I would've laughed in their faces and retorted no! Bitterness and anger can cause your demise, Which to the trained mind is no surprise. You've been an absentee father I don't know why, I guess a lifetime has passed you by. Were we the missing pieces in your puzzle of life? Gone are those hurtful words that would cut like a knife. Don't you think it's rather strange, That a diagnosis of cancer brought about this drastic change? Were you alone and adrift at sea? I guess in times of crisis you do need your family. The road to redemption is never straight, There are many obstacles before those pearly gates. I have learnt so many lessons in this period of time, That to harbor ill will may be deemed a crime. As for me, I scoffed at the idea of forgive and forget, But now I've done it without regret.
