Snowfall
Snowfall The snow sifted like sugar onto the branches of the tall trees. It poured onto the sides of the mountains. No-one would know it is spring. The quiet snowfall brought with it the loneliness amidst the beauty. A long winter it has been, a long life with so many hurdles. The fog leaves one feeling misunderstood, yet such clarity when lifted. If only things could have been different, but then I would not be who I am. Someone who marches ahead through drifts of snow, always moving forward. Someone ready to climb that next hill ahead of me, wanting to reach the top. With momentum of a storm, I keep on going, with survival for the next one. Strength comes from within, stirring from beliefs I hold and visions I have. As long as I keep my eyes open to what lies ahead, always in a new day. Whether it be winter, spring, summer or fall I will change with the seasons. And in these certain moments before me, I will be still even as the snow falls. Heidi Sands
