Rats
Awakening, dripping in a cold sweat from my dreamt fate... Looking around for life or movement in this pitch black, damp room. Catching the glimpse of Rats in the far right corner. Wondering in the back of my mind if they're coming for me. Scaring myself with the thought of those sharp white teeth Penetrating my now pale skin in fury to devour my being. Pulling the sheets in tighter for some sort of protection. Assuring with this now that they won't bother me. Telling myself that this is still just a bad nightmare. Trying to go back to sleep with a pillow over my head. Screaming upon the touch of something hairy and scratchy. Rushing up my legs like a swarm of blood thirsty Rats! Opening my eyes only now to see hundreds of tiny red eyes. Scurrying about my furniture and bed with rage or revenge? Realizing only now that the numbness from the cold is gone. Feeling now that the pain now has begun and will increase. Forcing myself with curiosity to see what damage is done. Shrieking back from the sight of them chewing to my bones. Shaking them off with pain and agony in hope of saving myself. Causing the Rats to only clutch on tighter and dig faster. Fearing the worst for my life I could only let it happen. Being covered in my own blood and a lust for death. Asking myself how I could possibly deserve this torture. Remembering nothing to help me in answering this dreadful question. Eating through me still with their razor sharp claws. Wanting nothing more but to kill me on bite at a time. Running away the Rats are finally done and I slip quietly into death. Awakening, dripping in a cold sweat from my dreamt fate...
